Mr. Eric Dale Simon, age 43, of near Fairview, Indiana, entered this life on May 30, 1979 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana and was the loving son of Dale Charles and Mary Ann (Emge) Simon. Eric graduated in 1998 from the Switzerland County High School where he was active in FFA and Switzerland County 4-H Club. After high school, he attended Vincennes University for agribusiness. Eric enjoyed helping on the family farm near Fairview, Indiana. He was a former employee for the Rising Star Casino in Rising Sun, Indiana for a few years. Eric loved planning parties and mailing cards to his family and friends over the years. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and was a member of the Most Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay, Indiana. Eric enjoyed watching TV, especially the Bengals, as well as, football and basketball games. He also enjoyed playing video games, writing, listening to music, socializing with his family, especially when it came to telling stories. Eric passed away at 8:15 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2022, at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Eric will be deeply missed by his father, Dale Charles Simon and his wife, Bonnie of near Fairview, IN; his sisters, Elizabeth Newman and her husband, Dan of Columbus, IN and Gina Orlando and her husband, Rob of Dayton, OH; his step-sister, Angie Haskell and her husband, Eddie of Bennington, IN; his nieces and nephews, Julia Orlando, Adeline Newman, Matthew Orlando, Benjamin Newman, Avery Orlando and Angelique Combs; his aunts and uncles, Patty Simon of Osgood, IN, Rose Marie Dolick of Reynolds, IN, Katie Emge of Delphi, IN, Dolores Simon of Osgood, IN, Linda and Tim Wissel of Greensburg, IN, Rita and Jim Bedel of Westport, IN and Lou Wolter of Osgood, IN and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann (Emge) Simon, died March 18, 2013; his maternal-grandparents, Leo and Rose (Klinker) Emge; his paternal-grandparents, Arthur Joseph Simon, Sr. and Eva Adeline (Tunny) Simon; his aunts and uncles, Rita Ann Simon, Donald and Ola Simon, Arthur Simon, Jr., Charles and Lucille Simon, Eugene Simon, Mary and Donald Gilland, Amelia Wolter, Joseph and Shirley Emge, James Emge, William “Bill” Dolick and Catherine Simon and his cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2022, by Father Chris Craig, at the St. John’s Catholic Church, 331 South Buckeye Street Osgood, Indiana 47037.
Interment will follow in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Osgood, Indiana.
