Mr. Earl Ray Jackson, age 72, of East Enterprise, Indiana, entered this life on November 17, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the son of the late, Leon Jackson, Sr. and Evelyn (Napier) Hamilton. Earl was raised in Pineville, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio where he attended Hughes High School. He earned his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and also his Licensed Practical Nursing degree from Ivy Tech Community College in Madison, Indiana. Earl was united in marriage to Diane Lynn Hall on April 13, 1973 in Newport, Kentucky. Earl retired as an engineer from Grand Victoria Casino & Resort in Rising Sun, Indiana, after several years of service. He loved working at the casino where he made long lasting friendships with his co-workers. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. Earl passed away at 12:25 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Norton King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana.
Earl will be deeply missed by his wife of over 51 years, Diane Lynn (Hall) Jackson of East Enterprise, IN; his son, Keith Jackson and his wife, Susan of Fort Wayne, IN; his daughter, Laura Cope and her husband, Lance of Indianapolis, IN; his honorary son, Jody Hensley of Switzerland County, IN; his grandchildren, Claire Evelyn Jackson, Maddie Jackson, Lydia Cope and Jackson Cope; his honorary granddaughter, Raychel Hensley; his brothers, Benny Jackson, David Jackson, Harold “Harry” Jackson, Howard “Pete” Jackson and Bill Bingham; his sisters, Juanita Brothers, Melvina Wellbrock and Sandy Vierling and his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Jackson, Sr.; his mother, Evelyn (Napier) Hamilton; his brothers, Leon Jackson, Jr. and Renfro Bishop and his sisters, Loretta “Betty” Hensley and Shelia Lynette.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., by Pastor David Jackson, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery in East Enterprise, Indiana.
