Mr. Earl Edward Bowling, age 88, of Fairview, Indiana, entered this life on March 28, 1938 in Grant County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Raleigh and Audrey (Blackburn) Bowling. He was raised in Bear Branch, Indiana and attended Rising Sun High School. Earl was united in marriage to Barbara Jean “Babe” Peters on March 1, 1957 at Pleasant Ridge. This happy union of over 69 years was blessed with three children. He was employed for Cosco Products in Columbus, Indiana for several years. He later owned and operated Bowling Grocery Store in Fairview, Indiana, from 1974 to 1985. In 1992, Earl was employed for the Switzerland County Highway Department, retiring in 2016 after 24 years of service to his community. Earl was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Olive Branch Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for several years. Earl enjoyed hunting, farming, working puzzles, listening to bluegrass music and spending time with his family. Earl passed away at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his residence.
Earl is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Jean “Babe” (Peters) Bowling of Fairview, IN; his son, Dennis Bowling and his companion, Susie Robinson of Fairview, IN; his daughters, Vicky Allen of Vevay, IN, and Brenda Shaw Lock and her husband, Kenny of Vevay, IN; his grandchildren, Misty Dermon and her husband, Paul, Matt Bowling and his companion, Kelli, Adrienne Deck and her husband, Joey, Brittany Allen, Skyla Allen and her companion, Cheyenne, and Colton Allen; his great-grandchildren, Destiny Brown and her companion, Dalton, Nathaniel Geyman and his wife, Jayden, MaKayla Bowling, Alexis Bowling, Arleigh Herald, Jexlynn Harris, Willow Reed, and Harper Bowling; his great-great-grandchildren, Madelyn Wagner, Mason Wagner, and Maxton Wagner; his brother, Ronald Bowling and his wife, Shirley of Fairview, IN; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Audrey (Blackburn) Bowling; and his sister, LaVetta Jane (Bowling) Griffin.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, in the old sanctuary at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 2250 Milton Bear Branch Road, Dillsboro, Indiana 47018.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, in the old sanctuary at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 2250 Milton Bear Branch Road, Dillsboro, Indiana 47018.
Interment will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery, in Bear Branch, Indiana.
