Mr. Douglas Chandler “Doug” Pike

Mr. Douglas Chandler “Doug” Pike, age 62, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on October 7, 1962 in Russellville, Kentucky. Doug was the son of Mardell (Haley) Pike and the late, Happy Chandler Pike. Doug was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he attended the Switzerland County High School. Doug milked cows in Florida until his accident in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing Bingo, going to Belterra, watching wrestling fights and playing on the computer. He loved being outside and watching the wildlife. Doug loved his nieces and nephews and often took them on rides in his wheelchair. He was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church near Lamb, Indiana. Doug was crowned the Valentine’s Day King twice at The Water’s of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana, where he resided for the past 13 years. Doug passed away at 3:22 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

Doug will be missed by his mother, Mardell (Haley) Pike of Vevay, IN; his sisters, Nancy Romans and her husband, Billy of Vevay, IN, Sara Schuster and her husband, Ted of Indianapolis, IN and Jessie Day of Vevay, IN; his maternal aunt, Lafell Claypool of Auburn, KY; his paternal uncle, William Hardin of Hammond, IN and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Happy Chandler Pike, died April 22, 2014; his paternal-grandparents, Hiram Pike and Fannie (Penrod) Pike Bennett and his maternal-grandparents, Virgil and Mamie (Cox) Haley.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2025, by Pastor Joe Lamson, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
