Mr. David Michael “Red Dog” Smith

Mr. David Michael “Red Dog” Smith, age 47, of Lexington, Indiana entered this life on March 22, 1969 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late, Robert L. and Janice F. Edwards Smith. He was raised in the Cross Plains community and resided the past year in Blocher, Indiana. He was a 1987 graduate of South Ripley High School and had received his welding degree from Ivy Tech. On November 26, 1988 David was united in marriage to Juanita M. Swinney at the Osgood First Baptist Church in Osgood, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with a daughter, Nickie and sons, Curtis and Joshua. Red Dog began his working career at Super Value in Versailles and at Wal-Mart in Madison. He had worked the past 18 years at Arvin Sango in Madison. He was raised in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dewberry, Indiana and held membership in the Sons of the American Legion at Versailles and Post 1969 Sons of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Madison. Red Dog was an avid fisherman, hunter, enjoyed playing baseball, softball, basketball, football, riding 4-wheelers, watching NASCAR, and being with his children, grandchildren and family. Red Dog was an avid Ford Truck man. He was a devoted Dad and loving Papaw. David died on Friday, July 1, 2016, at 11:57 p.m. at the Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY

David will be missed by his loving sons, Curtis A. Smith and his fiancée, Jessica Bowers of Seymour, Indiana, Joshua M. Smith of Butlerville, Indiana; his loving daughter, Nickie R. Woodson of Butlerville, Indiana; his adoring grandchildren, Alexandria Burton, Wyatt Burton, and Myla Woodson; his sister, Gloria Konkle and her husband, Ron of Bennington, Indiana; his uncle, Bobby Edwards and his wife Naomi; his aunts, Edna Smith and Inez Smith; his niece and his nephew, Heather and Chris; several cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Smith, his mother, Janice F. Edwards Smith, his sister, Gwen McDole, and his nephew, Ricky McDole, Jr.

FUNERAL CEREMONY

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., by Pastor Colleen Malone at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Dewberry, Indiana

VISITATION

Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
