Mr. Clarence Edward Wentworth

Mr. Clarence Edward Wentworth, age 96, of New Albany, Indiana, formerly of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on January 26, 1924 in Trimble County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Joseph Allen and Lydia Ann (Callis) Wentworth. He was a 1942 graduate of Vevay High School. Clarence was inducted into the United States Army on March 25, 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky, serving during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, World War II VIctory Medal, New Guinea Campaign Battle Star and the Southern Philippine Campaign Battle Star. Clarence was honorably discharged with the rank of Technician 4th Grade on April 4, 1946. Clarence was united in marriage on January 24, 1948 in Crestwood, Kentucky to the late Carol Jean Clements. Clarence and Carol Jean shared over 52 years of marriage together until she passed away on May 3, 2000. Clarence was employed as a bookkeeper for South Central Council for the aging in New Albany, Indiana and Neon Lite Company from 1947-1981 in Clarksville, Indiana. Clarence resided in the New Albany, Indiana community since 1948. Clarence passed away at 9:05 p.m., Thursday, December 24, 2020, at his residence in New Albany, Indiana.

Clarence will be lovingly remembered by his several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Allen Wentworth, died September 17, 1986 and Lydia Ann (Callis) Wentworth, died February 3, 1991; his wife, Carol Jean (Clements) Wentworth, died May 3, 2000; his brothers, Charles Wentworth, died July 10, 1928, Rev. Melvin Wentworth, died December 30, 1998 and J. Eugene Wentworth, died May 9, 2019 and his sisters, Helena “Babe” McKay, died May 5, 1986, Rosemary Griswold, died August 14, 1992, Nelgene Bolton, died October 23, 1995, Hilda L. Meriwether, died September 16, 2013 and Jennie Dean Brooks, died March 25, 2020.

Interment and full military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 and the Vevay VFW Post #5396 in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
