Mr. Charles Luther “Charlie” “Kook” Kincaid

Mr. Charles Luther “Charlie” “Kook” Kincaid, age 73, of Switzerland County, Indiana, entered this life on June 24, 1949 in Beattyville, Kentucky. He was the loving son of the late, James “JW” and Eunice (Bailey) Kincaid. Charlie was raised in Lee County, Kentucky until the young age of 12 when his mother passed away on September 10, 1961. Charlie moved to Switzerland County with his aunt and uncle that helped raise him, Bill and Jean (Bailey) Treadway. Charlie graduated from the Vevay High School, class of 1968. Charlie met his high school sweetheart who would soon become his wife. Charlie and Mary Jane were united in marriage on June 29, 1968 at the Ruter Chapel United Methodist Church in Vevay, Indiana. During high school, Kook worked for Hilltop Basic Resources in Patriot, Indiana for two years. He also worked for Norris Works on his farm for over a year. Charlie and Mary Jane shared nearly 55 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children, Scotty, Cindy and Robbie. Kook co-owned and co-operated with his wife, Bar-Tie Reinforcing from 1983-2019. Charlie enjoyed pulling tractors and trucks, farming, boating, riding 4-wheelers and raising horses with his wife for many years. He was a member of the Florence Masonic Lodge #27 and was a former member of the Switzerland County Tractor Pullers Association. Charlie passed away at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday April 11, 2023, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Charlie will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Mary Jane (Harlow) Kincaid of Switzerland County, IN; his son, Scotty Kincaid and his wife, Ginger of Switzerland County, IN; his daughter, Cindy Kincaid and her companion, Jeff Wagoner of Owingsville, KY; his grandchildren, Kelly Kincaid, Keegan Kincaid and his wife, Tealsee and Tyler Cook; his great-grandchildren, Kambrie Lay, Brixx Kincaid, John Craig, III. and Adari Kincaid; his brother, James Kincaid and his wife, Glenda of Lexington, KY; his sisters, Minnie See and her husband, J. Lynn of Louisa, KY, Betty Russell of Cincinnati, OH, Muriel Conner of Cincinnati, OH and Judy Holbrook and her husband, Skeet of Ashtabula, OH and his several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James W. “JW” Kincaid; his mother, Eunice (Bailey) Kincaid; his son, Robin Wayne “Robbie” Kincaid, died May 26, 2011; his aunt and uncle that helped raise him, Bill and Jean (Bailey) Treadway; his granddaughter, Karsen Elyse Cook, died September 4, 2020; his infant sister, Doris Kincaid, died March 15, 1946; his sister, Lillian Jean Campbell; his brother, Kenneth Kincaid and his sister-in-law, Margaret Kincaid.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, by Pastor Bill Madison, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Interment will follow in the Mount Carmel Cemetery near Aberdeen, Indiana.
