It was a mixed bag on the pitch for Batesville’s varsity soccer teams on Saturday.
The Bulldog boys fell at Greensburg 3-nil.
“Batesville struggled to establish its usual possession and combination play, while Greensburg opened the scoring on a deep free kick that found the net,” said BHS coach Kyle Hunteman. “The Pirates added two goals in the second half, one from a corner and another following an attack down the left flank.”
Meanwhile, the Batesville girls squad blanked visiting Franklin County 5-nil.
Elia Wade scored two goals and had an assist for the Bulldogs.
Also finding the back of the net were Addie Reding, Maddie Prewitt and Hailee Weisenbach.
Reding and Weisenbach also had assists.
Junior goalie Brynlie Oesterling recorded her sixth shutout of the year.
It was Senior Day at the Dawg Pound. Seniors Emma Cheek, Payton Krekeler, Savannah Pohlman, Maddie Prewitt, Addie Reding, Lilly Richardson and Nora Wiedeman were honored for their contributions to the program. .
The Batesville varsity and JV teams are back in action when they travel to Rushville on Tuesday.
