Milan Wrestler Matthew Baylor advances to State Meet

Milan 106-pound wrestler Matthew Baylor advanced to the state meet this past Saturday by

finishing 3rd at the New Castle Semi-State.

Baylor defeated Richard Rogers from Franklin Central 6-0 in his first match of the weekend. In his second round match he got the 12-3 win over Aiden Smalley from Hamilton Southeastern to officially punch his ticket to the IHSAA State Wrestling Finals.

Baylor would fall to eventual Semi-State champion Hurai Lian from Perry Meridian by fall with just 41 seconds left in the match.

He would rebound, winning his 3rd place match 3-2 over Connor Bayliss from Mt. Vernon (Fortville).

He will wrestle in the first session of the IHSAA State Wrestling Finals on Friday at 2 PM against Kaleb Salazar of Wawasee.
