Milan schools adding new safety app

MILAN, IN — School Resource Officer Noel Houze reported to the Milan School Board last week about a new safety app called STOP IT.

Superintendent Jane Rogers said the app allows students to anonymously report bullying, threats, and other safety concerns.

“What’s nice about this, with the anonymous reporting availability, is oftentimes students feel like they don’t want to say anything because it’s tattle tailing,” Rogers said. “But in this regard, they’re able to report. And we all know students are very adept at using their cell phones, so they will have access to this app at any time.”

Houze obtained the app with the help of grant money.

Staff will train on the app, which will be fully operational in the next few weeks.
