Michael “Mike” Goins, age 62, of North Vernon, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 13, 1963 to Warren and Margaret Goins.
For most of his life, Mike was a dedicated truck driver who took pride in his work and the many miles he traveled. Outside of driving, he had a true passion for working on vehicles. He loved being under the hood, turning a wrench, and getting grease on his hands. A Chevy man at heart, Mike loved all things Chevrolet and found great satisfaction in working with his hands.
He is survived by his significant other, Paula Eckels of North Vernon; his three sons Cody Goins and wife Hilary, Jesse Goins, all of Batesville, Indiana, and Sam Goins of New Point, Indiana; and his granddaughters, Paige, Brinley and Bristol Goins. He is also survived by his sister Norma Maurmeier and brother Norman Goins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wayne Goins, and a sister, Ellen Grieve.
Mike will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love of trucks and cars, and most importantly, the memories and love he shared with his family. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Though he may be gone, the memories he created and the love he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Rest easy, Mike. May the road ahead be smooth, the miles be endless, and the engine always run strong.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, he will be cremated. His family is planning a Celebration of Life on November 21, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the American Legion Post 271 3899 E. Legion Rd. Batesville, Indiana 47006. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories and remember Mike.
