Michael Lynn Schultz, 73, Aurora

Michael Lynn Schultz, 73, of Aurora, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at his residence. Mike was born in Batesville, IN on August 15, 1949, a son of the late Shirley Jean (Cash) Schultz and Ralph Schultz. He was a 1967 graduate of Dillsboro High School. Mike married Rebecca (Reczek) Schultz on July 2, 1977. Mike and Becky were married for over 45 years until his passing. Mike worked as Plant Supervisor at Oleochemicals. He was also a co-owner of Towne and Country Real Estate, a broker, and an accomplished real estate investor. Mike served in the US Air Force and was a member of the Dillsboro and Aurora American Legions.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Schultz, of Aurora, IN; by his daughters, Sarah Beth Davies (Ryan), of Rising Sun, IN, and Anna Elizabeth Banks (Fred), of Aurora, IN; by his grandchildren: Avery, Wren and Sierra; by his sister, Barbara Sewell, of Orlando, FL; by two brothers, Gary Schultz (Debbie), of Tavares, FL and Brett Schultz, of Orlando, FL and by several other family members and many friends.

Mike was happiest enjoying the outdoors at camp with his family and friends. He loved music, dancing, traveling, racing Jeeps, golfing, telling stories, and making memories with his family. From singing Don McLean’s “American Pie” to his girls in the car to dancing with Becky in the kitchen, his family has no shortage of happy memories to remember him by. Mike was an excellent friend to anyone lucky enough to know him. He treated his co-workers like family and made new friends wherever he went. He is remembered as a man who appreciated all of the things life had to offer, big and small. Friends remember that “you could tell that he was really in the moment taking in all of it. Not many people really do that. A man who truly stopped to smell the roses.” Above all, Mike is remembered by his family as the best Poppop, who never missed attending a sporting event for his daughters and granddaughters, cracking a joke, or dishing out the best advice in both businesses and in life. In his own words, advice “had to be heard four times” to be remembered. To experience life like Mike, be sure to “take in the sights, sounds, and smells” wherever you go, just as he did.

“Take it easy, kid.”

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Saturday, April 1st, 2023 from 12:30 PM till 3:30 PM at the Dillsboro American Legion located at 12915 Main St. Dillsboro, IN 47018. Markland Funeral Home of Rising Sun, IN serving the family. marklandfuneralhome.com
