Melvin W. Cutter

Melvin Walter Cutter, age 85 of Batesville, died Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Margaret Mary Health. Born May 31, 1935 in Milan, Indiana, he is the son of Jessie (Nee: Rumsey) and Walter Cutter. He served in the army from 1958 – 1960 and would marry Mildred Theobald October 7, 1961 at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church in in St. Mary’s, Indiana.

Melvin worked for over 40 years in the buffing department at Delta Faucet, along with weekends at the Standard Oil station for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1461 and the Hoosier Hills Car Club. After retiring, he started doing what he loved, which was working on the farm. He liked green tractors………Oliver tractors and classic cars. An avid Reds fan, Melvin enjoyed attending games with family and friends, a good game of basketball with his brothers and relaxing in his easy chair watching the news with his favorite cat buddy.

He is survived by his wife Millie; daughters and son-in-laws Jill and Curt Beverage, Judy and Doug Behlmer, Jennifer and Mike Moeller; son Jim Cutter (Amanda Schutte), all of Batesville; brothers Rollin (Maridee) Cutter of Noblesville, Indiana, Lawrence (Carolyn) Cutter of Milan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, December 21st, at St. Mary’s of the Rock Church. The current Governor’s mandate requires all attendees wear a facemask and observe physical distancing. The mask must cover the individual’s nose and mouth at all times. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Ripley Co. V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271.
