Melvin E. McAtee, 81, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
He was born August 1, 1941, in St. Louis, MO, son of the late Melvin J. McAtee and Margurite (Hume) McAtee.
He worked as a Iron Worker for Local 44, retiring after over 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Life Church, where he served as an Elder, assistant treasurer and taught Sunday School.
Melvin enjoyed detailing cars, and in his early years he enjoyed building model cars. He loved being outdoors, and enjoyed his horses for over 20 years. Melvin enjoyed listening to Jazz music, and he liked to read, especially Christian material. His faith and family were his passion.
Melvin is survived by his loving spouse of 57 years, Barbara (Haas) McAtee of Aurora, sons, Michael (Debbi) McAtee of Moores Hill, IN, David (Deanna) McAtee of Lawrenceburg, IN; brother, Danny McAtee of Aurora, IN; sister, Sharon (Bob) of NJ; grandchildren, Blake, Brooke, Grant, Collin & Carter McAtee; great-grandchildren, Braden & Trace McAtee.
He was preceded in death by parents Melvin and Margurite; and brother, David “Davy” McAtee;
Graveside services will be held at River View Cemetery, 3635 E. Laughery Creek Rd., Friday September 2, 2022 at 11:00 am with Pastor Kenny Hopper officiating.
