Mary Louise Foutty, 95, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025 at The Waters of Rising Sun. Mary was born in Louisa, KY on January 27, 1930, a daughter of the late Blanch (Tolle) Frazier and William Frazier. Mary married James Edward Foutty on August 14th, 1948. Mary and Jim were married for 56 years until his passing on November 21st, 2004. Mary worked at Seagram’s Distillery, Thatcher Glass and other jobs at a young age. Mary was a great cook and took pleasure in making large Sunday dinners for the family. She and Jim always had a beloved dog. Mary’s true calling was being an awesome grandmother “Mama” to her grandchildren. The family was very blessed with Mary taking care of the grandchildren while her children worked. In later years, she and her lifetime friend, Dale Detmer and her sister, Juanita were always seen out together sharing laughter.
Mary was a faithful member of the Rising Sun Church of Christ and a longtime member of the Rising Sun American Legion Auxiliary. She loved watching the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals, and NHRA with JR Todd.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Sharon Foutty-Scudder (Jim), of Aurora, IN and Terri Foutty-Bailey, of Aurora, IN; by her son, James Foutty (Angela), of Carrollton, KY; by grandsons: Jason (Hillary) Foutty, Jeremy (Mandee) Foutty, Corey Foutty ( Kalene Getz), Ian (Paula) Scudder, Jimmy (Jill) Scudder, & Joel (Kylee) Scudder and by granddaughters: Jamie (Kris) Kinnett, Brogan Bailey, Tracy Stutzman, Christy (Charles) Vuichard, Alicia Puckett, Chasity (Jimmy) Haynes & Mariah (Andrew) Clark and by 17 great grandchildren. Mary is also survived by a sister, Juanita Sheldon, of Rising Sun, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, James, by brothers, Carl Frazier and Charles Raymond Frazier, by sisters, Margaret Ester Holder & Catheryn Marie Wallick, by a grandson, Brandon James Foutty and by a great granddaughter, Cadence Danae Clark.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 18th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Eldon Fancher officiating. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Rising Sun Church of Christ, Rising Sun American Legion Auxiliary or Rising Sun-Ohio County EMS.
