Mary (Dennis) Evans, 73, Dillsboro

          Mary Jane (Dennis) Evans, 73, of Dillsboro passed away Monday, October 4, 2021 at 4:15 am at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, due to complications from Covid-19. Mary was born on Tuesday, February 3, 1948 being the youngest of 9 children born to Harry Carl “Pat” and Ila Ruth (Stamper) Dennis. Mary was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship, Indiana. Mary did several jobs over her lifetime including working for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Osgood, Home Health Care for many in Dillsboro, delivery driver for Flowers and Gifts of Love in Dillsboro, Dillsboro and Manchester Elementary School Cafeteria, retiring from school cafeterias after 10 years of service. Mary enjoyed knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and playing computer games in her spare time. Her greatest passion in life was spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Larry Edward Evans of Dillsboro, Indiana; her children Larry Dale Evans of Dillsboro, Indiana, and Sherry Lynn Demoss (partner David Denhart) of Osgood, Indiana; along with two granddaughters Jessica Lynn Lothridge (partner Justin Ballinger) of Holton, Indiana and Kaitlyn Michelle Lothridge of Radcliff, Kentucky; as well as a brother William C. “Bill” and wife, Ruby Dennis of Dillsboro, Indiana. She also had many nephews and nieces, many of whom she helped raise and felt more like her own. Numerous cousins also survive.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Ila Stamper in 1971, Pat Dennis in 1979, brothers: Junior, Sonny, Kenneth, Gerald, and sisters: Margaret Eisenacher, Frances Mounce, Florene Neal, and nephew Danny Dennis.

Family and friends may gather in remembering Mary from 5 – 7 PM Thursday, October 7, 2021, at the Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro. A service celebrating her life will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 8, 2021 also at the funeral home with Pastor Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Mary to the American Diabetes Association or the Bear Creek Baptist Church.
