Mary Aleene Keith, 89

Mary Aleene Keith, 89, of Aurora, IN, passed away on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025 at her home. Mary was born in Dearborn County, IN on September 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Dorothy (House) Brady and Bluford Brady. She graduated in 1953 from Lawrenceburg High School and later went on to attend Miller Business College in Cincinnati, OH. She married Kenneth M. Keith on June 20th, 1964. Together they raised three daughters, Cindy, Lisa and Kristy. Mary and Kenneth were married over 53 years until his passing on January 7th, 2018. Mary was a faithful member of the Hartford United Methodist Church until its closing. Mary retired from the Dearborn County Auditor’s office in 2011. She also formerly worked at Pierson-Hollowell in Lawrenceburg. Mary and Kenny enjoyed traveling all over the country. They drove to the west coast multiple times as well as Canada, New England and many other destinations. They were also music lovers and were Little Nashville season ticket holders for several years. Mary was talented at crocheting and made many pieces for the family to cherish. She also enjoyed playing bingo in her leisure time. Being with her family and watching her grandchildren brought her the greatest joy.

Mary is survived by her three daughters, Cindy Thayer (Rodney), of Aurora, IN; Lisa Moorhead (Rob), of Aurora, IN and Kristy Macke (Kevin), of Batesville, IN; by her grandchildren: Kendra Thayer, Ryan Thayer, Brad Moorhead (Hayley), Trent Moorhead (Bre), Kelsey Ollier (Will), Kollin Macke (Olivia) and Karson Macke and by her great grandsons; Luca Ollier and Miller Moorhead. Mary is also survived by a sister, Shirley Kuckenrider, of Aurora, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Kenneth and by sisters, Kathryn Scalf and Betty Gieringer.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 19th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 19th at Markland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the Dearborn Community Foundation, Ivy Tech Foundation or Aurora Emergency Rescue.
