Marvin Smith, 67, Moores Hill

       Marvin Smith, 67, of Moores Hill passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at his home with his loving family by his side. Marvin was born on Saturday, August 25, 1956, in Milan; son of Marvin D. Smith and Nancy (Pike) Smith. Marvin married Amanda (Kissell) Smith on June 16, 2001, and she survives him. Marvin served in the United States Army, was a sergeant for the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, and was a member of The Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and being outside. Marvin loved to watch football, always cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Marvin most of all cherished spending time with his loving family. He especially loved his grandchildren and loved to pick on his daughters-in-law.

Marvin will be missed by his wife Amanda Smith of Moores Hill; children Jason (Sherri) Smith of Versailles, Chris (Lisa) Smith of Batesville, Mickie (Russell) Moore of Batesville, step-son Adam (Sarah) Minges of Harrison, and Zachary (Sabrina) Marvin Smith of Lawrenceburg; brothers Alvin (Gina) Smith of Rising Sun, Arron (Angie) Smith of Greensburg, and Lindsey Smith of Greensburg; sisters Melinda (Greg) Dennis of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Dianna (Steve) Lowe of Greensburg, Reva Clark of Osgood, and Vikki Bialk of Lawrenceburg; and 14 grandchildren.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Marvin D. Smith and Nancy Smith; brother Barney Smith; and sisters Gwen Hamilton and Emma Ruth Smith.

Family and friends may gather in remembering Marvin from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. A service will follow at 12:00 PM, with Preacher Cliff Hartley officiating. Burial will follow at New Cravens Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Milan American Legion Post #235. Memorials may be given in honor of Marvin to the family to help defray the cost of a headstone.
