Martha Lee (Marcum) Pettit 79, of Moores Hill, Indiana, passed away Monday August 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.
She was born February 17, 1939 in Harlan County, KY, daughter of the late R.H. and Oma (Smith) Marcum.
She worked as a Store Associate for Wal-Mart, retiring after over 25 years of service.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Aurora.
Martha enjoyed flower gardening, and bowling. She liked cooking, especially mac ‘n’ cheese, eggs and pancakes. Time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was her greatest joy.
Martha is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Donald Pettit; children, Sue (Richard) Steuer of Lawrenceburg, IN, Ervin (Linda) Pettit of Moores Hill, IN, Richard (Kelli) Pettit of Moores Hill, IN; siblings, R.H. (Mary Ellen) Marcum, Bert (Phyllis) Marcum, Phillip (late Myra) Marcum, Leon Marcum, Ray (Darnell) Marcum, Fielding (Bev) Marcum, and Alberta (Jr.) Carpenter; grandchildren, Justin (Tiffany), Wyatt and Josh Pettit, Zach, Noah and Katelyn Steuer, Grady Walter, Carli Walter and Coleton Pettit; great-granddaughter, Mila Pettit; great-grandson, Landon Brey; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Juanita Napier (late John), Ella Wilson, and Betty Ann Marcum.
Friends will be received Saturday, August 25, 2018, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church Aurora, 220 Mechanic St., Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the church at 2:00 pm with Pastor Edward Davis officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Cemetery (Dewberry), Cross Plains, Indiana.
