Marlene A. Buening, 81

Marlene Ann (Tekulve) Buening, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at the age of 81.

She was the devoted mother of three children, Mark Buening (Tammy), Karen Varadachari (Sathya) and Trina Koers (Chris), and lovingly carried in her heart the memory of her first stillborn daughter, Marlene. Her family continued to grow over the years, and she was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren, Ellen Kernodle (Jake), Andrew Koers, Clair Fuller (Dillon), Alex Koers, Megan Varadachari and Luke Varadachari. A great-grandmother to four, Elizabeth and Ora Kernodle and Emilia and Madelyn Fuller. All of whom brought her immense joy.

She shared a marriage of over 50 years with her beloved husband, Steve, who preceded her in death. He was her steady protector and partner, and their love remains an enduring example to her family.

Marlene was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Taylor, Kathleen Wagner (identical twin) and Ginny Bruns, one brother, Bucky Tekulve and her parents, John and Stella Tekulve.

Marlene lived in Greensburg, Indiana before moving to The Villages in Florida. She spent her final years at The Lodge in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a long-time member of Saint Mary’s Church.

She leaves behind a legacy of love for her family, kindness, and living a simple life that will live on through her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Friends and family are invited to pray the rosary on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 9:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will follow until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with Father John Meyer officiating. A private burial service will take place at a later date. Lunch will be provided after their service with Marlene’s favorite foods. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic School.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
