Man arrested following two-hour standoff

(Dearborn County, IN) – A two-hour standoff late last week in the Lawrenceburg area led to the arrest of a man with an active felony warrant.

Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies were called to an apartment on Fairway Drive Thursday on a domestic violence report.

Upon arrival, deputies say they saw a man trying to hide in a bathroom.

The suspect, identified as Jeffrey McBride, was in possession of an “A-R” style rifle during the standoff, and they learned that he was wanted on a felony warrant for Intimidation.

McBride ultimately left the apartment and was arrested without incident.

Nearby residents were either evacuated or told to shelter in place during the standoff.

McBride is being held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on one count of Intimidation.

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Lawrenceburg and Aurora police departments and Bright EMS.
