Man flown from car vs. pedestrian accident in Brookville

(Brookville, IN) – A Brookville man was flown to the hospital after he was hit by a car on Main Street near 8th Street in Brookville Friday night.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says a 16-year-old driver from Brookville was northbound on Main shortly before 9:30 pm when her car struck 57-year-old Phillip Banks, who was in the crosswalk.

A witness told deputies Banks activated the warning light at the crosswalk and he almost immediately started walking across the street.

The witness indicated the teen was unable to avoid hitting him, and that she swerved in an attempt to avoid striking Banks.

Investigators say Banks was taken by Stat Flight helicopter to UC Medical Center for treatment of possible head, arm, and leg injuries.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin County EMS.
