Man dies nearly a week after I-74 motorcycle crash

(Dearborn County, IN) – A man who was seriously injured in a motorcycle vs. semi collision on eastbound I-74 in Dearborn County last weekend has died, and his passenger remains hospitalized.

59-year-old Randy Roberts died from his injuries on Thursday, August 10 at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

There’s no word on the condition of his passenger, 59-year-old Rebecca Oliver.

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office says Roberts’ motorcycle clipped the right front rear tire and fender of the semi as he tried to merge onto the interstate from the U.S. 52 on-ramp the afternoon of Saturday, August 5.

Roberts lost control of the bike, and he and Oliver were ejected.

The motorcycle was engulfed in flames, and Roberts suffered multiple injuries along with severe burns to his lower body and legs.

Neither Roberts nor Oliver was conscious when rescue crews arrived on the scene.

Oliver suffered a compound fracture to her left leg.

The semi-driver, who was identified as 45-year-old Robert Bollman, was not injured.
