NEW POINT, IN — A 74-year-old man is dead following a tree cutting accident Tuesday in the New Point area.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says Alvin Urban Wuestefeld was cutting a tree that had been damaged during a storm, and cutting an offshoot on the trunk when the tree fell on him.
Wuestefeld was working with his brother-in-law Donald Schwegman at the time of the accident.
Mr. Wuestefeld was pronounced dead at the scene.
The agencies involved with the call included: the Decatur County Communications Center, Decatur County EMS, the New Point VFD, the Greensburg Fire Department, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, and the Decatur County Coroner’s Office.
