Man arrested in Greensburg following early Sunday burglary, chase

Greensburg, IN — An Indianapolis man was arrested in Greensburg over the weekend on burglary and other charges following a pursuit.

Greensburg Police officers responded to a burglary on the 400 block of South Broadway Street around 2:40 am Sunday.

An officer spotted the vehicle that was described as the one used in the burglary and attempted a traffic stop.

The driver refused to stop and a pursuit began.

The chase ended when the driver wrecked the car and fled on foot.

The Greensburg officer and a Decatur County Sheriff’s deputy took a passenger in the car into custody.

Decatur County Central Dispatch then started receiving calls from the public saying a man was walking down 3rd Street trying to break into vehicles.

Police say the man was spotted by the officer and took off running but was caught after a brief foot pursuit.

38-year-old Anthony Allen Hubbard was taken to the Decatur County Detention Center, where he was booked on charges of Burglary (Level 4 felony), Resisting Law Enforcement, Battery (both Level 6 felonies), Theft (Class A misdemeanor), and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident (Class B misdemeanor).
