Man arrested for parole warrant from ’93 officer shooting

Columbus, IN — Columbus Police Department (CPD) SWAT members, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Violent Crimes Unit, the Indiana Department of Corrections, and the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office arrested a wanted man for a weapons violation parole warrant in Bartholomew County on Thursday.

CPD SWAT went to a house on West County Road 525 South to serve and Indiana Parole Warrant at 2:30 p.m. Officers say the wanted man, Jimmy Jones, 46, was taken into custody without incident.

Jones was on parole for weapons charges and attempted murder for the 1993 shooting of an Indianapolis Police Department officer.
After the warrant service, he was turned over to the Indiana Department of Corrections.
