Man accused of animal neglect to stand trial in November

Decatur County, IN — A Decatur County man accused of neglecting animals is scheduled to go on trial this fall.

70-year-old James Hamilton is facing three misdemeanor Animal Cruelty counts after around 300 sheep and two goats were seized from his property on East County Road 280 North earlier this month.

Most of the animals were removed from the property, while two dozen others were dead and more than 20 had to be euthanized.

Hamilton’s trial is set for November 14 in Decatur Superior Court before Special Judge David Riggins.
