Malee B. Dougan, 99, Greensburg

Malee Dougan, age 99, passed away at Aspen Place on January 10, 2025.  She was born in Warrick County, Indiana to the late Roscoe and Irene Medcalf.  Malee had two younger brothers, Roscoe Medcalf, Jr. and Waldo (Skip) Medcalf.  Both preceded her in death.

On October 20, 1951 she married Wendell Dougan in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was married for 53 years until his passing on January 18, 2004.

Malee graduated from Dale High School in 1943.  A housewife for many years, she later worked at David Turnham Elementary School and at Mitchell Feed Mill in Dale.  In November 1999, Malee and Wendell moved to Greensburg to be closer to family.

Malee was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church and later moved her membership to the Greensburg United Methodist Church for the past 24 years.  Malee was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 357.

Throughout her life, she was a true optimist, a great spirit, and always appreciative.  She grew up during the Depression and knew what it was like to go without many things that people take for granted today.  With a kind heart, she was always helping those in need.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, bowling, dancing, and playing the piano.  Always ready to go, she attended many sporting events for her children, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Malee is survived by her children: Susanna (Shelton) Shrock and son-in-law Mike Shrock (Swayzee), Gregg Shelton and daughter-in-law Marilyn (Kokomo), Winne (Dougan) Plummer (Kokomo), and Jeff Dougan and daughter-in-law Janet (Greensburg).  Malee is also survived by ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.  One grandchild, LeeAnn Rayls, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held at the Greensburg United Methodist Church in Greensburg on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 9:00am until 10:30am with a service beginning at 10:30am.  Graveside services and burial will be held at the Dale Cemetery in Dale, Indiana beginning at 3:00pm.
