Madison’s 13 run first inning costly in 20-5 loss for South Ripley varsity softball

A big first inning by Madison put the game out of reach in South Ripley varsity softball’s 20-5 loss in 5 innings on Thursday night.

Lexi Sullivan was a major contributor at the plate for the Cubs, batting 2-3 with a home run and 5 RBI.

Four of the five South Ripley runs came in the bottom of the third inning. Leading the Raiders at the plate was Brionna Linkel, going 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 RBI.

Ava Armbrecht got the win on the mound for Madison, striking out 5 in two scoreless innings.

Brooklyn Brown was saddled with the loss for South Ripley, giving up 8 earned runs, striking out 2, and walking 7 in four innings of work.

The Raiders travel to Lawrenceburg for a Friday evening matchup with the Tigers. The first pitch is at 5:00 pm.
