Madison man seriously injured in Jefferson County ORV accident

Jefferson County, IN — Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle (ORV) accident in Jefferson County that seriously injured the driver.

The wreck happened late Sunday night in the area of the 1900 block of Dugan Hollow Road in Madison.

Investigators determined that 31-year-old Brent Vanwye of Madison was operating a side-by-side ORV when he lost control on a curve and left the roadway.

Vanwye was trapped in the side-by-side until rescuers cut him out of the wreckage.

He was taken to Norton King’s Daughters’ Health in serious condition.

Investigators say Vanwye was wearing his safety harness at the time of the accident but was not wearing a helmet.

Assisting agencies included the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Madison Police Department, King’s Daughters’ Hospital EMS, the Rykers Ridge Fire Department, and Madison City Rescue.
