Lt. Gov. Requests SB 1 Veto

Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith.

(Indianapolis, IN) – Indiana Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith is requesting Governor Mike Braun to veto Senate Bill 1.

The bill will change Indiana’s property tax structure if Braun signs the bill into law. According to a post on social media from Saturday, Beckwith says he was on the phone with Hoosiers and government officials talking about the bill.

Senate Bill 1 passed the House of Representatives Thursday.

Braun posted on social media, saying the bill provides tax relief for Hoosiers.

Braun says he will sign the bill, despite that it doesn’t have all the language he wanted to see in it. He says if Amendment 36 was approved, he will progress with the bill.

Reports say Amendment 36 would raise the amount of money that could be saved by Hoosiers over the next three years, and this could provide Indiana homeowners around $300 a year.

Before the bill is sent to Braun’s desk, it is set to return to the Indiana Senate for a final vote.
