Lorinda Jane (Geis) Hollon, age 81, died peacefully on December 26, 2017, at her home in Torrance, California, after a prolonged illness. She was born December 31, 1935 in Batesville, the daughter of Herbert and Mary Geis.
Lorinda thoroughly enjoyed animals and gardening. She had a special place in her heart for her dogs, who were constant companions in her later years. She was an excellent seamstress and loved entertaining and cooking for friends and family. Early in her life, she was an accomplished pianist, winning many music awards in music, dance and singing competitions, appearing on TV in the early 1950’s. Lorinda graduated from Brookville High School in Brookville and married her high school sweetheart, John B. Hollon. Upon completion of his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Purdue University they moved to Anderson, where she worked as a business manager for L.R. Campbell’s State Farm Agency and at the family pharmacy, Moore Drug Inc. in Middletown, for more than 20 years. “JB” Hollon passed away in 1995.
Lorinda leaves behind two children, Chris (Christine) Hollon of Carmel and Beth (Joseph) Graziano of Palos Verdes Estates, CA. Grandchildren, Lesley, Elizabeth, Alexandra and Catherine Hollon, and Annie and Joey Graziano will deeply miss their “Nana.” She was a strong and independent woman, healer of creatures big and small and a devoted member of the Catholic Church. Lorinda is also survived by her beloved sister, Gwyneth Hignite of Connersville and many nieces and nephews who carry fond memories of her wonderful meals, as well as her mischievous sense of humor and great style. Her brothers, Gareth and Roman Geis are previously deceased and remembered with much love.
On Saturday, April 14, 2018 Father Mike Chowning will officiate a Mass of Christian burial at St. Michael Catholic Church in Brookville. Lorinda will be laid to rest in the church cemetery immediately following Mass. The staff of Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home is honored to care for the family of Lorinda Hollon.
