Lorena M. Schiller

Lorena Margaret (Smith) Schiller, 89, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Lorena was born August 4, 1932, in Louisville, KY, daughter of the late James M. Smith and Lorena (Miller) Smith.

Lorena began her working career during high school as a floor walker at Goldsmiths and behind the candy counter at Murphy’s Five and Dime. After graduating from Aurora High School, she worked as a full-charge bookkeeper for Aylor-Meyer for 4 years until she married Ernest Schiller. She was a homemaker for many years, and then returned to the workforce as an admitting clerk at Dearborn County Hospital. She continued working into her early 80’s holding positions at SIEOC, Greendale Housing, The Clearinghouse, Work One and the Veterans Administration.

Lorena enjoyed homemaking, sewing and crafts, her cats, the outdoors, but most especially her family.

She is survived by her children, John (Penny) Schiller of Milan, IN, Meg “Margaret” (Jim) Poehlmann of Cincinnati, OH, Roberta A. (Michael) Murphy of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Evan Poehlmann, Ben (Skylar) Poehlmann), Shane Murphy and Adrianna Schiller, 6 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lorena; Husband, Ernest J. Schiller; brother, James Smith; infant daughter, Marie Schiller.

Friends and family will be received Monday, January 24, 2022, 5:00 pm – 7 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church Aurora, 220 Mechanic St., Aurora, Indiana. MASKS ARE REQUIRED due to family health concerns.

Services will be held at the Church Tuesday at 11:00 am. MASKS ARE REQUIRED due to family health concerns.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
