“Look Around, Look Within” the theme of Mental Health Month

(Lawrenceburg, IN) – In the United States, 21% of adults are experiencing a mental illness, and over 2.7 million youth are dealing with severe major depression.

While mental health prevalence is on the rise, many are still lacking awareness of available resources.

May is Mental Health Month, which is important for calling attention to strategies and approaches that can help achieve wellness.

For those struggling with maintaining their mental health, Community Mental Health Center, Inc. (CMHC) can help.

“By prioritizing the mental health needs of those we serve, we create a foundation for growth, resilience, and well-being for our community,” said Chief Clinical Officer Diane Young.

This year’s theme is Look Around, Look Within, meaning to take time to take notice of your surroundings and how they are affecting you.

Topics Mental Health America is specifically addressing as part of its campaign include safe and stable housing, healthy home environments, neighborhoods and towns, and the outdoors and nature.

Information on the theme can be found at https://www.mhanational.org/mental-health-month.

CMHC believes that everyone should have access to the appropriate support and services, from mental to physical health to addiction services and more.

If you’re struggling, check in with yourself using the screening at www.cmhcinc.org, on the right side of the home page.
