Lois F. Barton, age 81, of Sunman

Lois F. Barton, of Sunman, was born on August 31st, 1943 to Ralph and Hester Gutzwiller. Lois married Rufus Barton in June 17, 1962 and divorced in 1987. Together, they had three children. Lois was a homemaker and took pride in raising her children. She was a very firm believer in her faith and attended Sunman Community Church routinely. She loved coloring in her past time and looking at pictures that friends and family often sent her. She was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer in October 2024. She completed all 33 radiation and 5 chemo sessions & proudly rang the bell upon her last visit signaling that she was finished with the succession that the tumor was gone. Whether you were a hugger or not, Lois would hug you anyway and they were always the warmest and most welcoming hugs. She never knew a stranger and always made friends wherever she went. Lois had this special gift of making you feel loved, special and cared for.  On January 12th, 2025 at the age of 81, she passed away peacefully at Christ Hospital surrounded by all of her family whom she treasured.

Those surviving who will cherish Lois’ memory are her three children; Tim (Barb) Barton, Deirdre (Brian) Hacker and Randy Barton. She had six grandchildren; Nathan Barton, Ashley (Michael) Hacker, Amber (Jeremy) Dixon, Jessica (Jake) Werner, Andrew Hacker, and Brooke Barton. She had three great grandchildren. Lois is also survived by her two siblings, Norman (Linda) Gutzwiller, and Darlene (Bruce) Knowlton along with nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Greg Knowlton and Deirdre’s dog, Cooper who absolutely loved his “grandma” and always had hearts in his eyes when she was around.
