Have you had an opportunity to see the holiday light display in Osgood? The Lohrum Christmas Extravaganza has brought admirers from near and far, and the family is hoping to win a contest as a result.
Cincinnati television station WCPO is hosting the “Tri-State Holiday Light Fight,” an online contest for voters to choose their favorite holiday display. The winning submission will receive a $2,000 prize.
Claiming the top prize in the contest could go a long way for the Lohrum family.
“We would like to change our current Christmas lights over to LED which will greatly help with out electric bill,” said Helen Lohrum.
“I also hope we can also install a second driveway so viewers will have a place to turn around and not use any neighboring driveways,” she added.
The Osgood display, which is submission #23, is in second place as of Tuesday morning, according to the family. Voters are required to have an email address and the deadline to vote is Dec. 26 at 11:59 p.m.
The Lohrum Christmas Extravaganza began in 1997 and now features 60,000 lights and 25,000 are animated by music. The light display is located on 2335 W. County Road 525 in Osgood, about a half mile north of Jac-Cen-Del High School on U.S 421.
According to the family Facebook page, the Christmas display will be on until the first Saturday in January.
