Local Y staff members receive special recognition

Batesville, IN — The Southeastern Indiana YMCA Board of Directors and staff recently recognized two staff members with the YMCA S.O.A.R. Award (Service and Outstanding Achievement Recognition).

Chief Volunteer Officer (CVO), Eric Benz, presented Angie Harmeyer, Southeastern Indiana YMCA Chief Executive Officer, with the S.O.A.R Award for her exemplary leadership that has significantly and positively advanced the Y’s mission. “From starting out as Learning Center Childcare Director 20 years ago to our current CEO, Angie has strengthened our community by connecting all people, including and especially our staff, to their potential, purpose, and to each other. Angie has been a transformative and innovative leader, empowering Y staff and fostering effective change to contribute to the success of the Y and our community as a whole,” shared Benz.

Jan Prickel, Welcome Center Specialist, was nominated for the YMCA S.O.A.R. Award by Membership Director Janette Jones, for serving as a role model for others and demonstrating a high level of professionalism. As Janette noted, “Jan always goes out of her way to help members, and they miss her when she’s gone. She is the strength and backbone of our membership department. Thank you Jan – for your nine years of dedication and service to our members and fellow staff, and for exemplifying the Y’s personality: Welcoming, Genuine, Nurturing, Hopeful and Determined,” said Jones.

“We congratulate and honor these staff members for illustrating outstanding efforts to contribute to the success of the Southeastern Indiana YMCA community through their service and
achievements,” added Benz.
