(Indianapolis, IN) — A Ripley County resident and Indiana State Police trooper was among nearly 100 members of Indiana’s public safety community honored for efforts to combat impaired driving.
Brandon Love, a trooper assigned to the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post, was named a 2026 Traffic Safety All-Star during the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s annual awards ceremony at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Love made 88 OWI arrests during 2025.
The Traffic Safety All-Star Award recognizes Indiana law enforcement officers who made at least 25 operating-while-intoxicated arrests during the previous calendar year.
Love was photographed at the ceremony with 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner and 2004 IndyCar champion Tony Kanaan, who is now team principal for Arrow McLaren, and Doug Huntsinger, executive director of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
“Protecting Hoosiers is one of the most important responsibilities of government,” Gov. Mike Braun said. “The officers we’re recognizing today embody that mission. Their dedication, professionalism, and compassion set a standard that strengthens communities across the state.”
The awards recognize officers for impaired-driving enforcement as well as leadership in traffic-safety education, outreach, and prevention.
ICJI’s Traffic Safety All-Star program began in 2020. Honorees are recognized for efforts that include impaired-driving patrols, sobriety checkpoints, and public education during holidays and other high-travel periods.
