OLDENBURG, IN — A locally owned transportation company is collecting items for the victims of the Mayfield, Kentucky tornado.
Duane Schoettmer and his partner have a bus available to collect and transport donated items to that area, which was the epicenter of this weekend’s deadly twisters in Western Kentucky.
Donations will be collected until 7 pm Monday and again Tuesday from Noon until closing at the Village Store in Oldenburg.
They’re accepting everyday items such as canned goods, paper products, clothes, diapers and baby items, blankets, tarps, flashlights, and batteries plus Christmas toys and cash donations.
“Our thought was, there’s a lot of devastated people, and it’s two weeks before Christmas and we thought ‘Let’s see how we can help them out,'” said Schoettmer. “We’re just trying to be a good neighbor, it’s the Christmas season and we feel like this is a really good thing to do.”
