Local students show off art skills at RCCF’s Chalktoberfest

(Ripley County, IN) – Area junior high and high school students showed off their artistic abilities last Saturday, October 7 at the 4th annual Chalktoberfest at the Batesville Shopping Village.

The competition is put on by the Ripley County Community Foundation through its Ripley Youth Outreach initiative and provides 6th through 12th graders the opportunity to showcase their individual and collective talents.

Students were challenged to create a 4-foot by 3-foot mural inspired by their favorite TV show.

In the junior high division, Allison Peetz took 1st place with her mural inspired by “Stranger Things;” Allie Cox finished in 2nd place with her creation based on “Bluey,” and Billy Cox came in 3rd place with a design inspired by “The Simpsons.”

Leigh Walmsley took first place in the high school division for her design based on “I’m Not Okay With This;” Grace Pettit finished in 2nd place with her mural inspired by “Lucifer,” and 3rd place went to Gabbi Moore with her chalk creation based on “Carmen Sandiego.

Prize amounts were $125 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd place, and $25 for third place.
