WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 2019 East Central High School graduate who was critically wounded in the recent suicide bombing in Afghanistan is making great strides in her recovery.

A social media post from the father of Marine Cpl. Kelsee Lainhart says she is sitting up in a recliner and interacting with loved ones.

Although she is still in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, Lainhart is already talking about and looking forward to the start of therapy.

She is recovering from injuries to her temple and spinal cord.
