Local Groups Benefit from DCREMC Operation Roundup

(Greensburg, IN) – Eleven local organizations were recently awarded a total of $15,000 in grant funds from the Decatur County REMC (DCREMC) Community Trust, as part of the electric cooperative’s Operation Roundup program.

Organizations receiving awards include:

• Central House Napoleon – $1,000 to repair damaged walls and floors in the historic doctor’s building.
• So Loved Ripley County Foster Kids Closet – $1,000 to purchase clothes and shoes to donate to children.
• Marion Township Volunteer Fire Dept. – $2,000 to update scene/lighting generator in the emergency truck.
• Campbell Township Volunteer Fire Dept. – $2,000 toward purchasing an AED that will be located in the firehouse.
• Speranza Inc. – $1,000 toward updating their website to better serve and support our local community.
• Westport Community Volunteer Fire Dept., Inc. – $2,000 toward purchasing a battery powered exhaust fan for their new pumper truck.
• South Decatur Elementary School – $1,000 toward purchasing equipment to spread mulch on outdoor lab paths.
• Girls Inc. of Shelbyville & Shelby County – $1,000 toward supporting a school program and for printed materials for students.
• Sand Creek Elementary School – $2,000 toward purchasing playground equipment for students
• Franklin County 4-H Association, Inc., – $1,000 toward purchasing chairs for the new expo hall.
• Decatur County Kids Closet – $1,000 toward purchasing shoes to donate to children.

Operation Roundup is a member-funded program established to support local charitable organizations serving Decatur County REMC members and communities.

When Decatur County REMC members round up their bill to the next whole dollar each month, they are making a direct impact in their community.

Since the program was established in 1999, Decatur County REMC has awarded 334 grants totaling over $609,000.
