Local counties’ jobless rates up in February

SOUTHEASTERN IN — All four area counties saw unemployment go up slightly last month.

According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Ripley County had a 2.6 percent jobless rate in February, which was up from 2.3 the month before.

Franklin and Dearborn counties were both up from 2.2 percent in January to 2.5 percent.

And Decatur County was at 2.3 percent, which was up from 2.1 in January.

The state came in at a record 2.3 percent for February, which was the third consecutive month that Indiana has set a new record low percentage.
