How about Jonathan India of the Reds? In St. Louis Saturday, 2nd baseman India hit 2 more doubles, extending his hitting streak to 11 games, and setting a team record for doubling in 7 straight games, as Cincinnati beat the Cardinals 9-4.
He was even called “a beast” by new Reds catcher Austin Wynns, who hit 3 Cincy doubles in the game himself. And rookie pitcher Carson Spiers made a quality start of 6 innings, allowing only 2 runs, 1 earned, and 3 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts, except for a 2-out solo homer by the Cards’ Paul Goldschmidt. The Reds beat former teammate, now the ace of the Cardinals, Sonny Gray, who only thew 4 1/3 innings, his shortest outing of the season so far.
The St. Louis series continues today, again the first pitch to be thrown at 2:15, after the broadcast arrives on your radio at 1:45 this afternoon, on the Sports Voice, 103.9 WRBI.
