(Letts, IN) – Letts volunteer firefighters had to deal with an outdoor burn that spiraled out of control Wednesday afternoon in the area of State Road 3 and County Road 500 South.
Investigators say the brush fire was being closely monitored but dry conditions and a slight wind caused the flames to go out of control.
Crews arriving on the scene around 2:15 p.m. found about two acres of a field on fire, with flames quickly spreading.
They were able to bring the blaze under control within five minutes.
Firefighters remind you the past few weeks have been very dry with little rain, and that you should watch any controlled fire very closely since it takes just a few minutes for it to get out of control.
