Leonard Leroy Chapin

           Leonard Leroy Chapin, 72, of Moores Hill passed away Monday, July 5, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Leonard was born Thursday, March 17, 1949, in Aurora, Indiana to the late Leroy “Mutt” and Evelyn (Lipscomb) Chapin. He married the love of his life Donna Kuebel on August 1, 1970. Leonard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietman Era, 1968-1969, and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He worked for the South Dearborn School Corporation in the maintenance department. Leonard had many hobbies which included fishing, hunting, trapping, playing cards, and a pool player. He was a jack of all trades and loved working on his own cars. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his family.

Leonard is survived by his wife Donna Chapin of Moores Hill; sons Lonnie (Sarah) Chapin of Milan, Patrick Chapin of LaGrange, Kentucky, and Curtis Chapin of Versailles; brother Venton (Wanda) Upton of Moores Hill; sister Gladys Gibbs of Milan; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Evelyn, brothers Eugene and Robert Upton.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember Leonard from 1:30 – 4:00 PM Sunday, July 11, 2021, with a Rosary at 1:00 PM at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 12, 2021, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 213 Ripley Street, Milan, IN 47031, with Father Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in Hogan Hill Cemetery with full military rites provided by the South Eastern Indiana Honor Guard. Memorials may be given in honor of Leonard to the Vietnam Veterans of America, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or the VA of Cincinnati.
