Leon O. Siebert

Leon Orval Siebert, age 73 of Batesville, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at his home.  Born on October 11, 1946 in Batesville, he was the son of Ray and Betty (nee: Dugle) Siebert.

Leon served in the US Army in Vietnam as a helicopter Crew Chief.  He earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during his time of service.

During his younger years, Leon had many jobs. He worked as a sand blaster in the Gulf of Mexico on the large oil rigs for several years. He also owned and drove his own semi-truck in Texas for a few years. About 10 years ago Leon returned to Batesville where he worked in the stamping department of Batesville Tool & Die.

Most knew how much Leon loved his dog, Gizmo. Because of his recent health issues, Leon liked to watch TV.  He used to do a lot of woodworking making small things like letters and such.

He is survived by his sister, Darlene Baechle of Bradenton, FL and brother, Marlin (Julia) Siebert of Batesville, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25, 2020 from 11-1pm with a 1:00pm funeral service all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Pastor Creighton P. Leptak officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery with military honors by the Ripley County VFW Post #3183 and Prell-Brand American Legion Post #271.

Due to the COVID-19 precautions, all attending are asked to wear a mask and follow proper social distancing protocol. If you are not feeling well, or if you have compromised immune system, you are encouraged to stay home.

Memorials may be given to the ALS Association by bringing it to the services or mailing to Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
