Lawrenceburg senior recognized for volunteer efforts

Lawrenceburg, In. — Lawrenceburg High School senior Logan Lawrence has been named a Distinguished Finalist for the “Indiana 2018 Prudential Spirit of Community Ward.” Logan will receive an engraved bronze medallion during a ceremony later this week.

In 2017, Logan organized the inaugural “Cruisin’ to a Cure for ALS” and raised $15,000. The show grew to more than 450 entries in 2018, and more than $23,000 was raised.

Logan’s grandfather, Carlos was a racer and car buff when he was diagnosed with ALS in the early 2000’s. As the disease progressed Lawrence decided to take action while promoting a pastime that is very important to his family.

Logan Lawrence, a Lawrenceburg High School senior in Lawrenceburg, Indiana has a resume that reads of an accomplished, young leader; Academic Team Math Captain, Class President, Varsity Basketball Captain, Dearborn County Lilly Endowment Finalist, Wendy’s High School Heisman School Winner and Prudential Spirit of Community State Finalist.  Logan has committed to Purdue University to study Biomedical Engineering in the fall.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), represent the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service. All middle and high schools in the U.S., along with all Girl Scout councils, county 4-H organizations, Red Cross chapters, YMCAs and affiliates of Points of Light’s HandsOn Network, were eligible to select a student or member for a local Prudential Spirit of Community Award last November.
