Laurel Police Department canine officer dies

Laurel, In. — The Laurel Police Department has reported the death of canine officer Blade earlier this month due to deteriorating health conditions.

His handler contacted a veterinarian and a vet tech that diagnosed Blade with “bloat.” Bloat is a gastric dilation condition that can be fatal. The cause of death was determined to be natural. Honorary services were not conducted because Blade did not die in the line of duty.
