Lady Wildcats Wrap Up Regular Season

Franklin County’s Varsity Softball team picked up a victory on Friday night to finish up their regular season schedule defeating South Dearborn by a score of 3 – 0. The Wildcats were able to pick up a nice EIAC win to head into sectionals, defeating a team they lost to a week prior.

The Wildcats were able to out-hit the Knights by a nine to two margin and played flawless defense throughout the game. Franklin County was also able to great pitching in the circle from KK Ferman. She went all seven innings, only allowing two hits and struck out four.

Franklin County also celebrated Youth Night on Friday evening as was happy to host a lot of our future Wildcats at the game! The future of the Wildcats looks bright!

With the win, the Wildcats finish up their regular season with a 16-13 (8-6 EIAC) record heading into sectionals. The team finished fourth in the EIAC and will look to pick up three victories to win the Sectional 29 title.

Franklin County will start sectionals on Monday evening when they take on Lawrenceburg at 6 PM. Sectional 29 will be hosted at Connersville High School. If the Wildcats win on Monday, they will then take on Greensburg in the semi-finals on Thursday evening at 6 PM. The sectional championship will then take place on Friday evening.

Franklin County’s JV season came to a close on Friday evening as the team lost to South Dearborn by a final score of 11 – 2.

South Dearborn did a good job of putting the ball in play hard, out-hitting the Wildcats eleven to eight. The Wildcats also did not help themselves out of defense by making six errors in the field which gave up some easy runs.

Despite the loss, the JV Softball team had a great season! They finished the year with a 16-5 record, with a 11-3 record in EIAC games. The team always played together and is a great group of young ladies to coach and be around on and off the field.

The Franklin County Varsity Softball team lost to the Greensburg Pirates on Thursday night 7-6.

The Wildcats never gave up in the game and came back to tie the game several times to tie the game. The team would score three runs in the fourth inning to tie it at three, and then tie it again at six before Greensburg would score the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a walk-off single.

Defense cost the Wildcats at some key times this game as they committed five errors in the game which helped the Pirates on offense.

The Wildcats fall to 15-13 (7-6 EIAC) on the season after the loss. The team will play their final regular-season game on Friday night as they take on the South Dearborn Knights. The game will be at home and start at 5:30 PM. Franklin County’s youth softball players will also be recognized in between games.

Franklin County’s JV Softball team broke out the bats in force on Thursday night as they defeated the Greensburg Pirates by a final score of 10 – 1.

The team’s offense responded well after not hitting great the night before. They were able to hit the ball hard throughout the game and out-hit the Pirates by seventeen hits. The hitting was highlighted by Olivia Bennett hitting a home run for the Wildcats, her first of the season!

Franklin County also got great pitching from Bella Lee in the circle. Bella threw all seven innings and only allowed one run, three hits, and struck out fifteen Pirates.

Franklin County moves to 16-4 (11-2 EIAC) on the season with the win. The Wildcats will finish up the season on Friday night when they host South Dearborn. The JV game will follow the varsity game which starts at 5:30 pm.
